The Scary Truth About Processed Foods

Good Morning from the Garden Cafe.....Wow it's Monday again!! I hope that you have decided that this is going to be a wonderful week to start feeling good. That means beginning your day with a good breakfast. Plan ahead and make sure you have some wholesome fruit and vegetables, especially those that are in season. Choose whole grains and whole grain products over refined ones. (anything that comes in a box or a jar stay away from). These foods are usuallly high in sugars, salt, low in fiber and high in fat or include trans fat and lots of saturated fat.

Eating clean means eating from scratch. Cooking most of your meals at home. Eating foods that don't even involve cooking, like salads, fruits, raw vegetables. There is a great variety to choose from. People all over the world are getting fat and sick. Real food does not come in a box or jar with a list of chemical ingredients. Reading labels is very important. Studies show that sugar can have devastating effects on metabolism that go way beyond its calorie content. It can lead to insulin resistance, high triglycerides, increased levels of the harmful cholesterol and increased fat accumulation in the liver and abdominal cavity. Not surprisingly, sugar consumption is strongly associated with some of the world's leading killers....including heart disease,diabetes, obesity and cancer.

So grab an apple and begin thinking about everything you put into your body all day. It might make a difference in how you feel and in your health.
